Basalt is a common, gray to green extrusive igneous rock. Basalt is formed on the Earth, the Moon, Mars Venus, and even on the Asteroid Vesta. Major minerals include pyroxene and feldspar. Basalt is heavy and has a fine-grained texture. This natural rock comes in a cotton specimen collection bag with an information card including details on the rock formation, characteristics and uses.  Specimen size ranges from 1-2 inches.

For age 4+ with adult supervision.
