This sandstone sedimentary rock is red and banded sample due to iron oxidation. It is formed from beach sand-sized quartz grains that are glued together with quartz or calcite. Sandstone is medium-grained and is often associated with water and oil storage. This natural rock comes in a cotton specimen collection bag with an information card including details on the rock formation, characteristics and uses.  Specimen size ranges from 1-2 inches.

For age 4+ with adult supervision.
