Gneiss
Gneiss is a metamorphic rock.
Pronounced nice, it is a light gray and white banded rock. The original rock
type is typically a granite, arkose, siltstone or sandstone. Gneiss has
a medium to coarse-grained texture. This natural rock comes in a cotton specimen collection bag with an information card including
details on the rock formation, characteristics and uses. Specimen size ranges from 1-2 inches.
