Conch Shell
It is an amazing experience to hold a konk shell up to your ear. Listening carefully, the magic of the ocean can be heard....just the shape inspires the imagination and an interest in our oceans.
Pink Conch shell are scientifically known as lobatus gigas. They originate from the Bahamas. The conch shells here, are a food by-product, they are salvaged. The conchs have a slit which allows the meat to be harvested. Conch (pronounced “konk”) is the national food of The Bahamas and a true Bahamian specialty. Our shells show signs of being tumbled in the ocean for years. Each shell is unique and natural, not one shell is alike.
